History

History Of Thurdibuoro

Thurdibuoro Secondary School stands as a testament to academic excellence and rich history. Our journey dates back to 1966 when Hon. Cleophas Ondiek Chilo Miguda, a visionary leader, championed the establishment of our institution. Originally known as Harambee Secondary School, the foundation of self-help was laid. In 1967, with Hon. Tom Okello Odongo as the Manager and Noah Miguda, then a student at Makerere University, as the pioneering teacher, the school was officially registered by the government.

In 1981, a pivotal transition occurred as the Ministry of Education assumed management, elevating us to a government-maintained status. Under the guidance of our first Headteacher, Mr. Boaz Mola Alondo (1981—1988), our trajectory was set toward growth and academic distinction.

KenGen Company played a crucial role in shaping our modern identity. Between 1999 and 2000, the school was meticulously reconstructed at its current location to accommodate the progress of power generation. This transformation marked a significant milestone as we journeyed into our new site in February 2000.

Today, Thurdibuoro Secondary School thrives as an Extra County School and a beacon of academic prowess in the county and beyond. Anchored firmly in a Christian ethos, we proudly bear the sponsorship of the AIC, drawing strength from our foundation and values.

Our success is a shared accomplishment, owed to the dedication of our founding figures, the community, KenGen Company, Board of Management, former Headteachers, committed Alumni, parents, our esteemed teaching and non-teaching staff, and the bright minds of our students.
